Alternatives To The iPhone XS

The iPhone XS, and the iPhone XS Max are on the horizon. This is great news for tech junkies who are already falling over one another to get their hands on the next generation device. It will be shiner guaranteed, plus it will have a few new bells and whistles attached. But at this point if we’re all being honest with one another, new bells and whistles are all that the iPhone series has been devolved to.

Each new model has a couple of things added, and perhaps a few more megapixels in the camera resolution department, but not much else. Yet the price tag attached would have you believe that the phone dispensed the cure for every disease known to man. Which is to say; iPhones are very expensive. So why not buck the trend, save the money, and buy an alternative?

Samsung Galaxy S9

If you’re not in the Apple camp, you’re in the Android camp, but we don’t really mind either way. We’re all about good deals, and the Samsung Galaxy S9 is far cheaper than a new iPhone at this point. The Galaxy S9 has already been out for a few months, which means that the price, predictably, has come down a great deal.

You can pick one up for a fraction of what the new iPhone would cost, and with 128 gigabytes of storage and an impressive 6 gigabytes of RAM. This means you’ll have the freedom to do anything and everything mobile device related, including playing casino games on the go. Plus, the Galaxy S9 has the best camera in the series thus far, really making it a steal.

Hey, diehard Apple fans, how do you know you don’t like a Samsung if you’ve never tried one? Think about it…

Huawei P20 Pro

As more and more mobile phone users look for alternatives to the big, expensive brands, eyes have been turning to Huawei. The P20 Pro blew consumers away, offering not only an astonishingly good 40-megapixel camera, but also a battery that lasted considerably longer than the competition. Furthermore, the price puts unreasonably expensive Apple devices to shame.

Here’s a thought; ditch both Samsung and Apple for a change, go with something completely new, and ask yourself why you haven’t looked elsewhere before.

OnePlus 6

OnePlus is a brand that many aren’t familiar with, but this doesn’t mean that their devices don’t deserve a good, hard look. The OnePlus 6 is dirt cheap in comparison to the XS and offers just about everything the average user could ask for. Don’t let brand names put you off, have a look, ask yourself how many of the Apple and Samsung bells and whistles you actually use, and consider if the OnePlus 6 isn’t exactly what you need.

iPhone XR

On the other hand, maybe you don’t want to go crazy and completely abandon the mainstream just yet. In that case, you might be better off simply stepping down, and picking up something that isn’t the bleeding edge. The XR really is just the slightly less top of the range version of the XS. It is virtually the same in all departments, but for having a slightly lower resolution. The facial recognition technology is still there, and the main camera is even identical. The only real difference seems to be, besides a few pixels per square inch, a massive reduction in price.

It’s all a matter of preference, of course, and if you’re still determined to get the XS at risk of your wallet suffering PTSD, then we salute you, and wish you well.
