Microgaming is one of the world’s leading providers of online casino software solutions. Established in 1994, the Isle of Man-based developer has risen to fame as a global leader in iGaming innovation and technology – not to mention its massive portfolio of over 1200 slots, casino games and live dealer games.
However, Microgaming isn’t just about pioneering the future of online gaming. The company has also made a remarkable effort to give back to its community through its unique local initiative, PlayItForward.
PlayItForward is described as Microgaming’s community driven outreach programme that focuses on the betterment of the community on which it is located. The programme was kick-started in 2014, and has since focused on a variety of key areas like health, sport, charity and education to pay it forward to its surrounding residents.
The PlayItForward project aims to change the game, both for the Isle of Man and the people on it. Microgaming has dedicated itself to sponsoring up and coming sports champions, assisting gifted and driven individuals to attend and graduate university, and even collecting funds to boost the status of dozens of British charities.
Looking Out For Locals In Need
Furthermore, the Microgaming Health and Care Trust has become a beacon of hope for many on the island, relying on just a single benefactor for all of its revenues: Microgaming itself. The developer has donated over £800,000 to the organisation to date, helping to pay for much-needed medical equipment for the local community – and the trust has also helped over 50 local charities with generous financial gifts.
Microgaming is exceptionally active when it comes to sport on the island, and it sponsors a variety of rising star teams and players in the area, as well as clubs, events, and important sporting associations both locally and abroad. The firm also offers marketing, PR and creative expertise to give each event a professional touch.
Some of the company’s most successful annual sports events include the Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon, the Microgaming Lighthouses Challenge, the Microgaming Soapbox Race, the Microgaming Summer Sprint Swimming Gala, and the IOMAA Winter Cross Country League. The teams that Microgaming currently sponsor include the Microgaming Isle of Man Para Swimming Team, the RYCOB Football Club, and the Microgaming Cavaliers Basketball Team.
Focus On Supporting The Community
Next up is charity: one of PlayItForward’s most important aims by far. The developer is paying it forward by providing grants to as many local charities as possible, supplying volunteers, tables for events, food and prizes at charity fundraisers.
The company has assisted numerous organisations over the past few years, but in 2016 alone, it raised £30,000 for the Gift of Giving initiative for charities in the UK, Isle of Man, Europe and Africa; gave £3,000 to three local charities through the Mayoral Charity Appeal; and raised thousands of Pounds for Macmillan Cancer, the Isle of Man Hospice and countless other institutions.
Microgaming places a huge emphasis on education as well. The company currently runs an initiative through the Department of Education and Children, offering Microgaming Bursaries to bright young thinkers, leaders and innovators and helping them through university and onto bigger and better things.
There are also endless Microgaming-sponsored events hosted for the community each year, keeping things fresh and fun and allowing the company to pay it back to the community at the same time. Residents are treated to Wellness Week, Microgaming Community Games, the Southern Agricultural Show, the Mobile Family Library, and much more. The company is always happy to work together with volunteers to capture the hearts of needy communities around the world and – in its own words – to make the Isle of Man a better home for all.
